Five years ago in 2021 we had our first Juneteenth Celebration. It was an answer to bringing light to a community still reeling from the spoils of COVID. We occupied one small section of the sidewalk with a few tabling agencies and organizations and 10’s of community members. Five years later, the event is gaining traction as a staple event in Ward 7. This year we welcomed hundreds of community members of all ages and we look forward to expanding the event and continue to use it as an important catalyst for community cohesiveness and enrichment.
